Today Starts My Journey of Creating Health and Happiness
It’s July 1st 2010, and I’m starting this blog to document my journey of creating health and happiness in my life.
My intentions for this blog are to keep myself accountable, have a record of my progress, tell it like it is in the moment, and perhaps even inspire someone (maybe you) to take action to create health and happiness in your life.
Health
Here are the facts:
- I’m a 54 year old woman who is overweight, actually let’s call it what it really is, obese weighing 208 pounds
for my 5’4″ body frame (the reading on the scale is from today the first time in years I’ve dared to step on one).- I do no type of regular exercise.
- I eat very poorly.
- I pop several Acid Reducer tablets every day to manage my heartburn and, regularly take Naproxen to deal with the stiff and sore joints (was diagnosed with Lupus in 1978 and despite my lack of self care have had very few flare ups or symptoms over the years).
- I have a prescription for the generic to Clexa (an anti-depression medication) but often forget to take it.
- I was taking Ambien on a regular basis to sleep at night (after napping during the weekday afternoons or sleeping through the days on the weekend) but when my prescription ran out last week I decided it was time to make some changes in my life.
Happiness
And here are the facts regarding my current happiness level/state of mind.
- I’m carrying some heavy credit card debt and owe several people money.
- I am currently underemployed so I don’t make enough to pay my monthly expenses.
- I constantly struggle with depression.
- I find myself living from fear and fear of success instead of from love and abundance.
- I have fallen into a pattern of lack regarding self care and love for myself, my body, my spirit and my relationships etc. which has contributed to me withdrawing further and further from life and living to my full potential.
And every single thing I’ve listed (and believe me there are many more) is changeable and everything on the list (I believe) is inter-related.
So where to go from here? My first big step today was to cut chocolate out of my diet. Next post will go into more depth about my relationship with chocolate and why I chose that as my first step.
Blessings to all of us,
Sabrina
